"The libretto (text) for the opera is written by the Norwegian poet Torgeir Rebolledo Pedersen. The plot is based on the fairy tale of "Veslefrikk with the fiddle", but this time in a very modernized edition and with political kicks. Immigration and new communities are one of many current topics that are covered."
"Yesterday on the Kulturhuset's main stage was the world premiere of the newly written opera "Veslefrikk". Composer Knut Vaage and libretto writer Torgeir Rebolledo Pedersen's opera is based on the fairy tale Veslefrikk with the fiddle, but is at the same time a completely new work related to our own time."
"Both the fact that the performance is an opera for the family – and that it differs from the large, traditional opera repertoire has been important in the assessment. Furthermore, the theme of "Veslefrikk" can be a starting point for a discussion of the migration issue.
