03 May Knut Vaage’s chamber opera, "Someone Is Going to Come", is being staged again.
I’m very happy that my first opera, Someone Is Going to Come (Nokon kjem til å komme), which was also the first opera based on a text by Jon Fosse, is now being staged again. The driving force behind this is the young Stavanger-based contemporary ensemble Insimul, with their talented and enthusiastic producer Birgitte Njå. They have put together a dream team of outstanding people: singers Marianne Folkestad Jahren, Halvor Melien, and Magnus Staveland, conductor Bjarte Engeset, director Bruno Berger-Gorski (who has also staged this opera before in Germany and Luxembourg), and scenographer Alice M. Sturt. I’m looking forward to the collaboration and to the premiere in Stavanger on November 5 at Tou Scene, followed by a tour in the autumn/winter to Haugesund Teater, Parkteatret in Oslo, the Royal Danish Opera at the Playhouse in Copenhagen, and the cool jazz club in Vienna, Porgy & Bess. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen, including Norsk Musikkforlag. The opera was released on Aurora with BIT20 Ensemble (Opera Vest), which premiered it at Ultima in 2000.
